How Often Should a Student Practice PSAT Math?
Published August 16, 2026
Short Answer
For most students, I recommend 2–3 short lessons a day. If your student has extra time and wants to keep going, practice more.
The goal is regular practice without making PSAT prep exhausting.
Practice When You Have Time
There is no need to do all the lessons at once.
Do one before school and another later in the day. Fit them between homework and activities, or do several when there's more free time.
Make practice fit your day, rather than organizing your day around practice.
Missed a Day? Consider It a Rest Day
Busy days happen. If your student misses a day, consider it a rest day.
There's no need to make up every missed lesson the next day. Just return to the normal routine.
What About Speed Practice?
Add Speed Builders whenever your student wants some speed practice.
The goal is to get faster at familiar questions—not to rush. Regular lessons and Speed Builders can work alongside each other.
If You're Using a Workbook
Don't measure practice by pages completed. Spend more time on skills that need attention and less on those your student already knows well.
Practice should have a purpose, not just a page count.
Bottom Line
Aim for 2–3 short lessons a day, do more when there's time, and don't worry about an occasional day off.
A good practice routine should fit into your student's life—not take it over.
